Installation with paper boats Ekelhof Gallery

A reflection on the exhibition at Gallery Ekelhof.

Throughout June, I had the opportunity to exhibit together with glass artist Marianne Goverde at Gallery Ekelhof.
Gallerie Ekelhof is a cosy gallery in a beautiful location on the grounds of Vila Ekelhof in rural Sterksel (North Brabant).

The owner is friend and fellow artist Elke Meulendijks with her partner Mark Kip.
What immediately struck me was the beautiful light and its effect on the colours in my paintings and glasswork.

It was marvelous to see the colours of my paintings come to life in this beautiful space.

Specially for this exhibition, I had created work that had not been shown before.
When setting up an exhibition, I always look at what story I want to tell.
In doing so, I try to make the best use of the space.

The paper boat is a recurring motif in my work. That quickly became apparent in this series.
Together with Elke, I came up with the idea to use an installation of paper boats to bring the works together.
I placed these on the ground to create a kind of trail through the space.

The paper boat is a recurring motif in my work as seen in this painting 'Hope Floats". Currently on display in my exhibition at Gallery Ekelhof

You can still visit the exhibition until Sunday 29 of June.
I will also make a selection of the work that has not been sold available on my website soon.
