About the painting:

This small painting is an abstract depiction of a heather field full of different shades of purple.
Heather in bloom announces the end of summer and so the transition to autumn, which is my favourite season. The sun is closer to the earth again and the air feels different.

Suddenly in the mornings, you want to wear a cardigan again and the smell of fallen leaves tickles your nose.

This scene is characteristic of the nature in which I grew up and can be admired every year in August.

Using a palette knife and building up the image in different layers reveals the different textures and shapes in the landscape.
